You bought a Jetson Bolt Pro from Costco. You watched a YouTube video saying you can “Hack the Speed” to 19mph using an app.
You downloaded the “Ride Jetson” app. You tried the “Go-Kart” app. You tried connecting via Bluetooth. Nothing happened.
Here is the hard truth that most blogs won’t tell you: Jetson removed the Bluetooth chip from the new 2024/2025 models.
If your bike was made recently, there is no “Software Hack.” The chip simply isn’t there. But don’t worry—you can still unlock the speed. You just have to do it the “old school” way: A Hardware Swap.
Here is how to take your Jetson Bolt Pro from a slow 15mph to a cruising 19mph (or faster) for about $35.
The Problem: The “Anti-Hack” Update
In the older models (2021-2023), Jetson included a Bluetooth module inside the bike’s computer (Controller). This allowed users to connect a generic app and change the “Speed Limit” setting from 15mph to 19mph.
Because of safety regulations, Jetson physically removed this chip in the new versions sold at Costco and Walmart. No app in the world can connect to a chip that doesn’t exist.
Stop trying to download sketchy APK files. They won’t work.
The Solution: The $35 “Brain Transplant”
Since the stock controller is “locked” to 15mph, the only way to fix it is to replace the controller with an “Unlocked” version.
This sounds scary, but it’s actually plug-and-play. You need a 350W Brushless Motor Controller (generic) that fits the Jetson chassis.
What you need:
-
350W Controller + LCD Kit: (Search Amazon/AliExpress for “36V 350W Controller with LCD S866”).
-
Screwdriver: To open the belly of the bike.
Step 1: Remove the Old Brain
-
Flip the bike upside down.
-
Unscrew the plastic panel on the bottom of the frame.
-
You will see a tangle of wires and a silver box. That box is the Stock Controller.
-
Take a Photo: Before you unplug anything, take a picture of the wires just in case.
-
Unplug the wires (Motor, Battery, Throttle, Brakes) and pull the old box out.
Step 2: Install the “Unlocked” Controller
The new generic controller doesn’t care about “Safety Regulations.” It gives you full power.
-
Match the Colors: Most generic controllers use standard plugs.
-
Thick Yellow/Green/Blue: Motor Phase wires.
-
Thick Red/Black: Battery Power (You might need to swap the connector to match your battery).
-
Thin Multi-color plugs: Throttle and Hall Sensors.
-
-
Mount the LCD: The kit comes with a screen (which the original Jetson lacks!). Mount it on your handlebars.
-
Plug in the Screen: Run the cable down to the new controller and plug it in.
Step 3: The “Secret Menu” Settings
Once installed, turn on your new screen. You can now program the speed limit yourself!
-
Hold UP + DOWN buttons to enter the P-Settings Menu.
-
Navigate to P08 (Speed Limit).
-
Change the value to 100 (No Limit).
-
Navigate to P10 (Drive Mode). Set it to 2 (Throttle + Pedal Assist).
Result: Your Jetson Bolt Pro will now hit 18-20mph on flat ground, and you have a working speedometer—something the original bike never had!
Is It Worth It?
For $35 and an hour of work, you get:
-
+4mph Speed Increase (Feels much faster).
-
A Real LCD Screen (Speedometer, Odometer, Battery Voltage).
-
Cruise Control (Most generic controllers have this built-in).
If you are tired of being passed by other cyclists, the “Brain Transplant” is the only real speed hack left in 2025.
